Job Description
The Hydrologist Engineer will report directly to the Project Manager (PM). Under the guidance and direct supervision of the PM.
He will be responsible for planning, supervising, and monitoring the project and rotary well drilling. The role involves assessing hydrogeological conditions, ensuring proper site selection, evaluating groundwater potential, and providing technical guidance throughout the drilling, testing, and completion phases of wells. The engineer will work closely with field teams, and relevant stakeholders to ensure the project meets technical standards, environmental considerations, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Deliverables
• Preparing project daily reports;
• Preparing comprehensive Weekly and Monthly report including photos on the progress of work;
• Preparing his weekly and monthly plan in accordance to the project plan.
• Preparation of all data, and documents related to the project when needed.
Monitoring and Progress Controls
• Active participation in weekly site progress meetings;
• Active participation in periodical team meetings;
• Maintaining, accurate, quality and completion documentation as identified in responsibilities
above.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct daily field inspections and monitoring work in progress and assures the work meets the requirements of the plans and specifications and good work practice standards;
carry out day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labor force and machineries;
Checking technical designs and drawings for accuracy and to ensure that they are followed correctly;
Conduct hydrogeological surveys, site assessments, and groundwater potential studies with the client engineering team;
Supervise and monitor rotary drilling operations and other related activities to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards;
Prepare and taking dilled materials samples and field data for preparation of well logs;
Review and analyzing the well log, geophysical test, water quality testing, pumping tests, & well development and provide technical summary and recommendation to the PM;
Coordinate with site team, client engineer and other relevant stakeholder during drilling activities;
Ensure that the work compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations;
Provide training and technical support to field staff and drilling teams;
Troubleshoot problems encountered during drilling, such as formation collapse, water inflow issues, or equipment malfunction;
Perform any other duty in line with these ToR’s as required.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or Water Resources Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in groundwater exploration, well drilling (especially rotary method), and water resources management.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of hydrogeology, aquifer systems, and groundwater dynamics.
Proficiency in rotary drilling methods, well design, and development techniques.
Experience in conducting pump tests and analyzing well performance.
Knowledge of national standards for water wells (MEW) and international standards (ASTM, WHO).
Other Requirements:
Strong project management and reporting skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills under challenging conditions.
Familiar with engineering software’s and computer programs.
Fluency in English (and local language as required).
