Job Description

Project cycle management
In close Coordination with Disaster Preparedness Coordinator develop and execute detailed project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and donor requirements.
Utilize project management tools to monitor project activities, timelines, and budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
Ensure existing of robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess project impact and effectiveness.
Oversee and manage all pre-positioning and stockpiling to ensure that materials are secure and adequately supplied. Regularly monitor inventory levels and provide timely reports to the Disaster Preparedness Coordinator regarding the current status. Proactively identify needs and submit requests for replenishment as necessary.
Identify potential risks related to project implementation and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies to address challenges.
Development of community-led contingency plans through community-led risk mapping.
Provide regular reports on project progress, challenges, and achievements to Disaster Preparedness Coordinator, other relevant staff and donors, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Conduct regular field visits to evaluate project implementation and gather data for analysis.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, meeting minutes, and training materials.
In close Coordination with Disaster Preparedness Coordinator and field staff conduct scenario planning and simulations to prepare communities for potential disaster scenarios.
Team Leadership and Capacity Building
Improve teamwork and make sure the team has a clear understanding of all project elements.
Ensure timely conducting the training sessions and workshops to enhance community preparedness, focusing on topics such as DRR, risk assessment, emergency preparedness, Community-led risk mapping, early warning system including gender equality and women empowerment
In close coordination with the Regional Managers mentor project staff, promoting a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
In close coordination with the Regional Managers conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members to support their professional development.
Provide technical guidance on disaster preparedness methodologies, including needs assessments, contingency planning, and community engagement strategies.
Support fundraising and resource mobilization efforts by utilizing evidence from project reviews, reflections, and demonstrated impact to ensure the long-term sustainability of initiatives.
In close Coordination with Disaster Preparedness Coordinator and Senior Trainer Develop training materials and curricula tailored to local contexts and needs.
Stakeholder Engagement, Coordinator and Networking
In close coordination with field staff collaborate with local communities, government bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to foster partnerships and ensure project sustainability.
When requires organize, facilitate and participate in stakeholder meetings and consultations to gather input and build consensus on project activities.
The Project Manager makes sure the development and implementation of an Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) for the project, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, social safeguards, and community engagement principles. This includes conducting environmental and social impact assessments, identifying mitigation measures, and monitoring the implementation of environmental and social management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Engage with key external actors (ANDMA/PDMC, Red Cross, UN agencies and humanitarian clusters) to initiate coordination, synergies, and define joint roles.
Security and Access Negotiation
Strictly follow the organization's existing security policies, procedures, and daily instructions of the safety personnel.
Comply with the principles of prioritizing safety and dignity, do no harm, access, accountability, and the empowerment and active participation of communities in the design, implementation and evaluation of actions.
Stay well-informed of emerging trends and best practices in disaster risk reduction and integrate relevant approaches into project design and implementation.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices in disaster preparedness, including adherence to environmental and social safeguards.
Coordinate safety audits and assessments of project sites to identify and address potential hazards.
Any other relevant tasks are given by the supervisor.

Job Description:
The Project Manager for Disaster Preparedness will be responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and monitoring of disaster preparedness initiatives within the organization. The ideal candidate should possess strong project management skills, a deep understanding of disaster risk reduction, Development of community-led contingency plans, risk identification and mapping, set up early warning system on community’s level, and experience working in complex and challenging environments.

The Disaster Preparedness Project Manager will report technically to the Disaster Preparedness Project Coordinator and will report to the Operations Manager for administrative support.
