Job Description

About Position


Human Medical Laboratory is seeking for talented qualified Medical Receptionist. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for greeting and assisting patients, managing calls and appointments, handling patient registration and invoicing, and ensuring accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. This role involves coordinating with medical departments, processing financial transactions, maintaining confidentiality, and assisting with specimen collection when needed. Strong communication, organizational skills, and prior experience in a healthcare setting are essential for delivering professional and efficient patient services. The working hours for this position starts from 04:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Patient Interaction & Communication

Greet and attend to patients in person and over the phone and WhatsApp.
Answer all phone calls professionally and courteously.
Answer patient questions and provide assistance and directions when necessary.
Respond to emails that arrive using the laboratory-assigned email address.
2. Administrative & Scheduling Responsibilities

Schedule appointments of the reports of the patients.
Complete accurate documentation of patient visits.
Utilize our laboratory software to register patients for invoicing.
Maintain confidentiality of all doctor, staff, and patient information.
Verify financial records and collect patient charges while filing and expediting third-party claims.
3. Medical Coordination & Reporting

Liaise between medical departments with discretion and professionalism.
Communicate medical results to patients under clinical supervision.
Scan pertinent patient information into EMR including patient authorizations, recent labs delivered by patients.
4. Laboratory & Specimen Handling

Issue specimen collection containers to patients as needed.
Perform procedures for collection of blood samples from patients (peds, adults, etc.) when a phlebotomist is not available.

Requirements

1. Education & Experience:


Degree in medical laboratory technology (Bachelor degree) or relevant field
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and medical billing systems is an advantage
2 to 3 years of experience in medical reception, preferably in a laboratory setting
2. Technical & Administrative Skills:

Familiarity in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant software.
Familiarity with medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and patient registration processes.
Ability to handle multi-line phone systems, emails, and WhatsApp communication professionally.
3. Communication & Customer Service Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dari, Pashto and English
Strong customer service skills with a polite and professional demeanor.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients, doctors, and staff effectively
