Job Description:
The Midwifery Specialist will provide technical assistance in promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), ensuring the effective management of ADVS’s support in establishing the midwifery profession with special focus on midwifery education. The Midwifery Specialist will lead and work in close collaboration with the midwifery unit and the ADVS Programme.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate in assessing, planning, coordinating, and delivering maternity care pathways.
Promote and monitor safe and effective practice, enhance the patient experience with a midwife.
Support the Primary health services for mothers and children (ANC/PNC, immunization, family planning).
Each FHH will be equipped and staffed with trained midwives.
Mental health care through trained counselors and psychosocial support staff.
Conduct community awareness sessions on health.
Provide effective leadership and management, and contribute to the delivery of the Trust/Divisional objectives.
Mobilize trained midwives and counselors from the local community to ensure acceptance, security, and sustainability of services.
Work closely with the multidisciplinary team in FHH and the community to ensure a coordinated quality service, and will be actively involved in education, data collection, guideline development, and research.
Specifically, Maternal Medicine Midwife will also ensure delivery of high-quality, responsive, safe, efficient, and compassionate care to women.
Support the planning and delivery of specific education in pregnancy.
Develop and deliver high-quality education for Registered Midwives as part of annual learning requirements.
Support the Maternal Medicine team in developing the service.
Act as a leader and role model, adopting a flexible approach in a role that encompasses leadership, management, and clinical responsibilities.
Demonstrate pride in their work and enthusiasm for quality of care.
Monitoring and Reporting.
Any other tasks assigned by the program lead.
Requirements
Minimum Specialized Qualification:
At least a Bachelor's degree in the field of public health, health care sciences, Midwifery or a related field (essential).
Technical expertise in midwifery (supervisory role).
Prior experience working with organizations and the FHH project.
Fluency in Pashto and Dari with strong communication skills, with fluency in the English language required.
5-7 years of increasingly responsible professional and managerial experience in programme/ project management in the field of midwifery or maternal health, within UN agencies, INNOs and local NGOs or other relevant organizations on health projects, especially in the FHH project medicines management.
Willing to travel to remote parts of the country to monitor the implementation of projects.
Able to manage and plan the work effectively and meet deadlines.
Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
