Job Description

The Vocational Training and Business Development Officer will oversee and manage all livelihood activities at the MYC on a day-to-day basis. This includes selecting and placing unemployed youth in vocational training programs, delivering business development services (BDS) training, and supporting graduates in selling their products and securing employment. The Officer will also coordinate and maintain regular communication with program participants, community members, and private and government stakeholders as needed.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

VT and BDS Training Planning & Implementation

Design and implement vocational training programs aligned with market demands and project objectives.
Review and contribute to training schedules, lesson plans, and curricula tailored to specific trades.
Deliver BDS training and support trainees in developing business plans and processing grants.
Oversee the delivery of freelancing training.
Ensure all trainings are implemented effectively and meet organizational and donor requirements.
Supervision & Coordination

Oversee trainers/instructors and provide guidance to ensure quality delivery of training sessions.
Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote vocational training activities.
Facilitate linkages with private sector employers for internships, apprenticeships, or job placements.
Capacity Building & Mentorship

Provide technical support, coaching, and mentoring to trainers and trainees.
Organize refresher training for staff to enhance teaching and technical skills.
Monitoring & Evaluation

Monitor training progress, trainee attendance, and performance.
Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to ensure learning objectives are achieved.
Collect data, prepare reports, and share updates with management and donors.
Resource & Administrative Management

Manage training materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring proper utilization and maintenance.
Maintain accurate records of trainees, training sessions, and outcomes.
Support in budgeting and resource allocation for training activities.
Career Development & Employment Support

Guide trainees on career pathways, entrepreneurship opportunities, and job market readiness.
Support trainees in developing business plans and accessing start-up capital or job opportunities.
Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure vocational training programs meet organizational, national, and donor standards.
Uphold safeguarding, gender, and inclusivity principles in all training activities.

Requirements

Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Vocational Education/ Business Administration (BBA) Commerce (B. Com) Economics or development studies.
Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience working with adolescents and youths.
Experience:

Minimum of 4 years’ experience working with adolescents and youths.
Capacity to work with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Capacity to work efficiently within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong ability to work independently.
Available to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
Skills and Abilities:

Good Communication and interpersonal skills, including reporting writing.
Good knowledge of community development especially working with children, women and families.
Excellent problem solving and presentation skills.
Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meeting of deadlines.
Culture sensitive and respect for local norms.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of the cases.
Willingness to travel and stay in remote areas and inhospitable environment.
