Universiti Malaya (UM) Bright Scholarship is a full scholarship program

created to identify and recruit outstanding candidates (citizens and noncitizens) from leading educational institutions around the world to pursue a

Doctoral Degree (PhD) in research mode at Universiti Malaya ( UM).

1. The applicant must be no more than 30 years old at the time of application..

2. Minimum academic qualification required to apply are as follows:

a) A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.70/4.00 (or an equivalent

recognized qualification); and

b) A Master’s Degree by research, or a Master’s Degree by mixed-mode with a

minimum CGPA of 3.70/4.00(or an equivalent recognized qualification).

3. Non-citizens must have the following English language qualifications:

a) IELTS Band 6.5; or

b) TOEFL with score at least 73; or

c) CEFR B2;

The validity of the English test is within 2 years from the date of the examination.

4. The applicant must not be receiving any sponsorship from any organization or other

parties.

1. Stipend: RM3,500/month for a period of 42 months

2. Fee waiver throughout 7 semesters

3. Any payment involving the preparation of agreement documents,

preparation of passports, insurance, visas, flight tickets, medical

examinations and accommodation is NOT be borne by the University.
